Partir, c'est mourir un peu

DUBROVNIK - Partic, c'est mourir un peu. This famous phrase is describing the current status of the participants to the course of In- and Exclusion. This late afternoon, the course came to an end with a magnificent concluding speech by Wieger Bakker. The everlasting concentrated participants absorbed it like a sponge.

At the end of the lecture, they were automatically preparing for the next lecture: a good habit that they developed in the last week. But then, all of a sudden, they realised that there was no need to do this.

As Wieger was pronouncing his famour last words: 'Before we met, we did not know if we needed you. But now, we cannot do without you anymore (Vox Dubroniki)', the crowd cheerded and applauded. The cheering was soon replaced by mixed feelings: Happiness and sadness were fihting to dominate. There was happines and a content feeling, as everybody can be proud of the performances of this weeek. But at the same time there was sadness, realizing that a unique experience now came to an end. The participants were too sentimental, so I could not find a participant to give a reaction. Godfried Engersen, sharp as always, was able to give a short reaction. He decided to edit his earlier quote of Shakespeare to a more useful phrase: 'this world is a stage, and the resource persons are merely players.'

The struggle of emotions was soon after replaced by another feeling: expectation. Some important activities are planned for tonight and tomorrow, so that is certainly something to enjoy.

Right after the course, there is a so-called 'social drink' in the beautiful court of the IUC. This drink is offered by the IUC; hereby we would like to thank them very much for this nice present.

At eight o'clock, there is a special dinner in the restaurant of hotel Bellevue, followed by a party in 'The Moon' (drinks are for free).
Tomorrow, there will be a boat trip to the beautiful island Lokrum. A beautiful ending to al splendid course.

Let us include the memories and exclude the fatigue, in order to enlarge this experience a bit more....
